Several years ago when we first lived in Asheville, this northern city boy had never actually seen live bamboo shoots. I’d seen plenty of bamboo furniture and furnishings from my days running Vivavi but never the living grass.
That’s right, bamboo is considered a grass. It grows fast. Really fast. Like crazy fast. And then it grows some more. When you cut it down, it grows back. Fast. So, it’s rapidly renewable. Hence, many of us consider it a green material.
Bamboo in the hands of the folks at iSkelter is a sight to behold. I’ve no idea if I really truly need a laptop desk. But this one – the Slate – diffuses heat, provides ample room for a mouse and also a nifty place to place your cell phone. Hmmm. Maybe I do.
I also know that I definitely do not need a Chisel Dock for my iPhone. My phone does just fine wherever I happen to misplace it. But i love it. I want it. I want my phone to live in it.
iSkelter is really onto something. They keep crowd funding sustainable goods that I must own. Nice job, guys.
Why It’s Green: Bamboo is considered a grass. It grows fast. Really fast. Like crazy fast. And then it grows some more. When you cut it down, it grows back. Fast. So, it’s rapidly renewable natural material that can be used again and again.
